BUSHMAN BEGINNINGS Bushman was founded in 1990 by Tom Bethurem, an industrial chemist with over 35 years experience developing personal insect repellents. His goal was to produce the very best repellent available. It was developed in the tropics for the tropics and tested in 'the swamps' to ensure it was the best performing repellent in the harshest of conditions.

From the beginning Bushman's superior performance began to win a lot of praise and word began to spread of its effectiveness. Through the 90's and 00's Bushman was the subject of many independent tests where it unanimously proved its performance and gained loyal customers and a strong fan base. Promotional videos were made encouraging people 'not to feed to mozzies' and even cartoons were drawn making reference to the products' excellent performance. Since 1990 Bushman has grown to be Australia's 'NUMBER ONE' premium repellent, mostly through word of mouth recommendations.
